How to play
I Know...You Don't Card Game
3 to 7 players, age 10 and up.
In I Know...You Don't, one player acts as the Rule Keeper who selects a hidden rule from our rule deck. The other players lay down character cards as clues, attempting to decode the pattern, empty their hands, and identify the secret rule before anyone else.
Setup
Our game includes 72 character cards and 60 rule cards. One person is chosen as the Rule Keeper, who looks through the rule deck and picks a secret rule card without showing it to anyone. For a first game, an older player or adult should take this role and pick a basic rule, reading a few examples out loud before starting. The Rule Keeper shuffles the character cards, deals seven cards to each other player, and sets the rest face down as a draw pile. Finally, the Rule Keeper finds a card in the draw pile that fits the secret rule and places it on the table as the starting clue.
How a Turn Works
Play starts to the left of the Rule Keeper and proceeds clockwise. On your turn, you choose one of three actions. Option 1: Play one card face up diagonally from the clue card. If it fits the rule, the Rule Keeper places it in line next to the clue. If not, the Rule Keeper returns it to your hand. Option 2: Play multiple cards at once in a specific order. If all cards fit the rule in that order, the Rule Keeper adds them to the line. If any card fails or the order is incorrect, all cards return to your hand.
Trading in Cards
Option 3: If you believe none of your cards fit the secret rule, reveal your entire hand to the table. If you are correct, the Rule Keeper discards your hand, draws replacement cards from the top of the draw pile without looking, and gives you one fewer card than you turned in. If you are incorrect and at least one card fits, the Rule Keeper adds one fitting card to the line and gives you a replacement card from the draw pile. If you correctly trade in your final remaining card, you receive zero cards and advance to the final guess.
Identifying the Rule and Winning
When you get rid of all your cards, you earn a chance to identify the secret rule. The Rule Keeper takes the secret rule card, adds two random rule cards from the rule deck, shuffles the three cards, and passes them face down to you. You pick the card you believe is the secret rule and hand it to the Rule Keeper without showing the group. If correct, you win the game. If incorrect, you pass all three rule cards face down clockwise to the next player, who gets a chance to guess. Play continues passing the three cards until someone identifies the correct rule and wins.
